Project Description

  • When students want to create illustrations for projects iPads come in handy to allow them to capture their own work and upload it into their digital project.
In this project students worked independently to research and create a story book about an endangered species. Students investigated the cause and effect relationship of human impacts on wildlife populations. Prior to the project students learned the organization of ecosystems and interdependence amongst populations in communities. This project introduced students to the multitude of current issues related to human population growth and resource consumption.

Next Generation Science Standards
  • Constructs an explanation that predicts patterns of interactions among organisms across multiple ecosystems.
  • Construct an argument supported by evidence for how increases in human population and per-capita consumption of natural resources impact Earth’s systems.
  • Apply scientific principles to design a method for monitoring and minimizing a human impact on the environment.
  • Analyzes and interprets data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
